New BVCHD Interim CEO, Raymond Hino

The Bear Valley Community Healthcare, District Board of Directors is proud to announce the hiring of Raymond (Ray) Hino as the new interim CEO for the hospital.

With over 30 years of senior-level experience in healthcare and extensive experience in Rural District California Hospitals we are confident Ray is the right person to continue the success and direction of the healthcare district. He will spend several days in December getting acquainted with hospital operations.

On January 2, 2013 Ray will begin full time.

Raymond T. Hino, M.PA, F.A.C.H.E.Independent Health Care Consultant -Mendocino, CA

Raymond Hino is an Independent Health Care Consultant with 34 years experience in senior level executive management positions in hospitals ranging in size from a 24 bed critical access hospital to a 429 bed tertiary care teaching hospital.  Most recently, he served for 6 years as the chief executive officer of the Mendocino Coast District Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Fort Bragg, CA.  Hino is nationally known as a forward thinking leader in the health care field with vast experience in health care policy at the State and Federal level, health care administration, health information technology, Medicaid managed care and rural health care delivery.  He has a rich health care administration background, including work in urban and rural, large and small, and in proprietary, non-profit and governmental institutions.  In addition to his home State of California, he has worked in hospitals in Texas, New Mexico, Idaho and Montana.

Hino previously served as the Founding Chair of the California Critical Access Hospital Network, an association of 32 critical access hospitals.  He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Hospital Association (AHA) and of the California Hospital Association (CHA).  For the past 2 years he has served on the AHA Committee on Performance Improvement.  From 1999 to 2008 and from 2011 to 2012 he served on the CHA Rural Healthcare Center Advisory Board, including 2 years as Chair of the Advisory Board from 2003 to 2004.  He has additionally, served on the boards of 2 Medicaid Managed Care Plans, Partnership Health Plan of California and Kern Family Health Care.  He has also served on the board of Beta Alliance Insurance Services and the Montana Hospital Association.  In 2006 he was recognized by the CHA Rural Healthcare Center for Outstanding Contribution to Rural Health Care.  Hino is a frequent contributor on Hospital Impact, a National Healthcare Leadership Web Blog.

Raymond holds a BS degree in Public Administration and an MPA in Health Services Administration both from the University of Southern California.  In 2008 Ray achieved Fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

He has been married to his wife, Gayle, for 26 years.  They reside in Mendocino, California.
