He continued his sports fellowship at UPMC, where he helped take care of the defending world-champions Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins, along with numerous collegiate teams. During his fellowship, he also worked with Drs. Lovell and Collins, who wrote the NFL guidelines on concussions.

In addition to being versed in general orthopaedics, Dr. Liu has special skills in anatomic single- and double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions, shoulder instability and rotator cuff repairs, hip arthroscopy, and medical

He also educates other sports surgeons as a member of the self-assessment committee for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM).

Dr. Liu’s main clinic is located in Hesperia, but he is starting his private clinic in Big Bear Lake once a month starting February 19th, 2014 due to popular demand.  It will be a general orthopaedic clinic, to treat patients with issues such as degenerative joint diseases and fractures.  Dr. Liu will perform selective surgeries at Bear Valley Hospital for local patients.
