Big Bear Valley is a beautiful place to live, work and raise a family. Big Bear offers 4 seasons to enjoy year round, you can never get bored seeing the fall leaves change colors, watching the snow fall in the winter, enjoying the beautiful spring flowers or soaking in the sunshine during the summer months. We are located in the San Bernardino Mountains at an elevation of 6,500 feet above sea level.

Relocating To Big Bear
Have you been contemplating moving to an area where you can experience all four seasons? Big Bear Valley is the perfect place to explore whether you like being outdoors or if you simply want to enjoy the fresh air and daily blue skies. We offer many places to shop, eat and play while surrounded by our beautiful mountain scenery.
Our valley infrastructure contains many facilities to serve your needs such as our local hospital that offers many of the services you will find at larger facilities down the hill, we have five fire stations around the valley, a public access airport, ambulance services for both air and ground emergencies, three elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, one library, law enforcement, lake management, City Hall with a beautiful Performing Arts Center and much more. In addition Big Bear offers skiing and snowboarding at two resorts. The winter months have many snow play activities such as snow shoeing, two tubing parks, sledding, indoor and outdoor events. The summer months bring parasailing, water skiing, wake boarding, two full service cable wakeboard parks, fishing, boating, hiking, mountain climbing, biking, a water park with a bobsled/water slide/go karts, a supervised outdoor shooting range, an indoor funplex with lazer tag/roller coaster/bumper cars/arcade and many indoor and outdoor events.
We have special groups that serve the individual needs of Big Bear Valley. For business we have a Chamber of Commerce to network with other local business owners and a full array of services to launch or maintain your local business. We have a fully stocked Visitors Center with information pertaining to everything in the valley. Big Bear offers a supportive domestic violence center called Doves. Also we have many local civic and service clubs in Big Bear to become involved in, including our Hospital Foundation and Hospital Auxiliary.
Big Bear Valley offers a variety of activities to explore and enjoy in our community. If you or your family member is disabled Big Bear offers a program to get you outdoors whether it is summer or winter you can explore both mountain and lake activities in specialized adaptive equipment. If your looking at increasing your cooking skills visit the Village and take a cooking class with a local Chef. To explore the valley from the air you can rent a helicopter for a few hours and take in the scenery from the sky or take a Zipline across the valley. If staying on the ground is more to your liking then you can rent a Segway and motor your way through the village and across town. You may even want to relax on the lake in a tour boat. If you are looking to explore your creative side and enjoy set-making or entertainment you may want to explore our local theater group. If you would like to make jewelry or stained glass you want to take a local class. If you enjoy history, we have plenty of it surrounding the valley and a center to visit so that you can glean more information. We also have a center to learn more about our natural habitat.
We have many places to explore and enjoy in our valley. Big Bear Valley residents are devoted to the place we live. Our community is personally involved with improving our town in addition to helping each other when a need arises. We welcome you to come visit!

The Big Bear Valley Historical Society is an organization of people dedicated to preserving the rich history of the area and promoting an appreciation of its colorful and diverse heritage. In addition to hosting historical tours and featured speakers, the Society operates a Historical Museum with an extensive collection of artifacts, featuring exhibits from the indigenous Serrano Indians, the gold mining era, cowboys and cattle ranching, logging, fox farming and early winter sports.
